What is it?

 

Taking adventure sports right into the streets, waterways and urban jungle of the world’s coolest cities, the Rat Race is an adventure event in which teams of three or pairs, race in a multi disciplined challenge of navigation, endurance, skills and guts.  You will run, climb, mountain bike, kayak, abseil, and navigate your way around a course that’s only revealed hours before you begin.

 

What will it involve?

 

This is a weekend event, made up of the ‘Mean Streets’ challenge on the Saturday, and the ‘Nine 2 Five’ challenge on Sunday.  You can expect three hours of mad –cap checkpoint hunting around the city centre on Saturday evening.  The Sunday is predominantly bike based and involves up to 8 hours of city discovery on various ‘adventure loops’, which link up fabulous venues, activities and adventures.

 

When is it?

 

There are three dates across different cities, so all you have to do is choose which city you’d like to explore:

 

Edinburgh                         17th & 18th July 2010

London                             25th and 26th September 2010

Green Belter

From the guys behind the legendary Rat Race comes the Green Belter - an Adventure on your doorstep offering a multi-sport mix of biking, running, a wee splash in kayaks and a trademark mighty 'Green Machine' obstacle course thrown in for good measure.

 

All events last up to 4 hours (depending on your pace) on way marked courses.  They all take place on Saturdays and are open to solos or pairs, and everyone who enters gets £50 worth of race gear and rewards within their entry.

Anyone can take part - no experience of adventure events is required.

 

When is it?

 

There are three races in the series to choose from, all within an hour and a bit from central London:


Thames Challenge - 10th July 2010

 

Registration fee:  £40 per person

Sponsorship target:  £300 per team

River Tees Rat Race

This is a 10+km walking or running journey along the banks of the Tees, interspersed with adventure activities based on, near (or in!) the Tees.

It takes place on Sunday 29th August, starting at 2pm. It's open to everyone, whether you want to take part as a solo, or in a group with your family or friends.

The activities range from walking the plank off Captain Cook’s replica ship; HM Bark Endeavour (and jumping off into the river!), short episodes of kayaking and wet dunkings, muddy scrambles, to scaling the mighty Newport Bridge via an exciting ladder climb. None of these activities require special skill, but all of them are pretty exciting!

Scotland Coast to Coast

Can you cross Scotland in a weekend?

 

Imagine a route that traverses one of the most famous mountain landscapes in the world by bike, foot and boat; a journey that covers just over 100 miles, including a marathon-worth on foot; a journey that takes in some of the most iconic locations and amazing views in the Scottish Highlands: Loch Ness, the Great Glen, Ben Nevis and Glen Coe.

 

This is a challenge open to all adventurers. Some will come to win; some purely to finish; many just to take part. All will leave having enjoyed being active with friends in this spectacular setting. The Coast to Coast is a truly defining journey through the mystery and lore of this ancient landscape.
