ABOUT US

HeartLine Association

HeartLine was set up in 1977 by staff and parents at Great Ormond Street.  We now have a national membership of 1800 throughout the UK, more than 50 Area Contacts, and special contacts for eg grandparents, feeding-problems.  The only membership rule is that you are involved in some way with a heart child.
As a registered charity, HeartLine is run mainly by parents.  We have an office in Surrey, where a small staff handle queries, arrange sailing trips, caravan holidays, and a summer event.
We publish the ever-valuable Heart Children book, now produced in eight languages, and a quarterly magazine.  We send packs of information for families to the hospitals that treat heart children.  Our website offers lively Forums with nearly 3000 messages at any one time, where parents offer each other sympathy, comfort and advice during surgery, family, social and school problems.
